The Mission of Duhok’s General Directorate of Health as part of Ministry of Health in Kurdistan Region is to put in place a health system in which there is equitable access to coordinated quality health care services characterized by a dynamic, efficient, affordable, decentralized, gender sensitive, self reliant and capable of meeting the ambitions of the consumer within the broader framework of overall regional development. The main characteristics are:

• Emphasis on the prevalence and incidence of disease aiming to prevent & control
• Provision of equal chances for health care to all citizens, irrespective of their ethics, socio-economic status and place of residence, Gender and religion
• Improvement of effectiveness and efficiency of the public health services
• Promotion of greatest possible level of coordination between the private and the public health sector
