Dr.Tahr Hawrami, Minister of Health in the Kurdistan region of Iraq to conducted a visit to the Directorate General of Health in the province of Dohuk and met through Dr. Nizar Esmat Director General of Health thereafter the delegation went to Akre, where they met with Dr. Fadil Director of Health, who briefed the events in health institutions, especially in the Coughlan hospital looking at the conduct of health service delivery.

The Mission of Duhok’s General Directorate of Health as part of Ministry of Health in Kurdistan Region is to put in place a health system in which there is equitable access to coordinated quality health care services characterized by a dynamic, efficient, affordable, decentralized, gender sensitive, self reliant and capable of meeting the ambitions of the consumer within the broader framework of overall regional development. The main characteristics are:
- Emphasis on the prevalence and incidence of disease aiming to prevent & control
- Provision of equal chances for health care to all citizens, irrespective of their ethics, socio-economic status and place of residence, Gender and religion
- Improvement of effectiveness and efficiency of the public health services
- Promotion of greatest possible level of coordination between the private and the public health sector
